Color Theory in Digital Photography
During our Composition Unit students focused on contrast for a variety of projects diving deeply into color contrast. This opened up an opportunity for better understanding in Color Theory. Throughout various photographing and editing projects students explored complimentary colors, colorful vs. neutral, and warm vs. cool colors.
Photography I
Photo 1 focuses on the technical aspect of photography. Students gain knowledge in the darkroom chemistry and developing process, processing their own film and learning to use an SLR camera. They practice and understand how to manually adjust the settings on their cameras for proper exposure, as well as how it can control depth of field and motion blur. Once the mechanics are mastered students then explore the "rules" of composition in their photographs. These are paired with their own creative ideas of self expression and an additional unit in portraiture.
