Color Theory in Digital Photography
During our Composition Unit students focused on contrast for a variety of projects diving deeply into color contrast. This opened up an opportunity for better understanding in Color Theory. Throughout various photographing and editing projects students explored complimentary colors, colorful vs. neutral, and warm vs. cool colors.
Quarantine Self Portrait
This was my first large project for my Digital Photo II students. They were asked to reflect on their quarantine experience. What did they feel? What kind of experience did they have? Presented with some portrait photography guidelines they were asked to take a self portrait wearing a mask. From there they needed to decide what image did they want to overlay onto their mask. Something they missed? Something that they benefitted or gained during quarantine? Or how did they spend their time during quarantine? From there students utilized the program Pixlr to explore new editing techniques to create an image overlay specific to the mask area on their self portraits.
